🧠 Brainy Snack
Studies show that people are 50% more likely to say “yes” to a small request if you ask them for a large one first.
Behavioural scientists call it the “Door-in-the-face Technique”
(It’s the inverse of the Foot-in-the-door Technique)
Ask your buyers a large request first.
Something you don’t actually expect them to say “yes” to.
Then follow up with a smaller request.

🤓 Brainy Breakdown
Dyson’s marketing team was on their A-game when they created this ad.
Instead of adding one buyer psychology strategy to this ad, they added two.
Here’s the breakdown:
|
|
#1: The Framing Effect
“Twice the suction” is clear and compelling. It’s a much better frame than bragging about how their vacuum has “160 Air Watts compared to the standard 68 Air Watts,” which the common person wouldn’t understand.
#2: The Picture Superiority Effect
Our minds process images 60x faster than words.
With one quick look you can easily remember Dyson’s vacuum has double the suction because it’s double the size in the ad.
As much as this helps to prove the framing of the suction power, it also helps make Dyson’s product more memorable long-term.
